SPECIAL PRIMARY ELECTION EDITION: PART THREE

Winners

Losers

Steve Rothman

The Bergen County Congressman plays a key role in Frank Lautenberg's campaign, and Barack Obama secures the Democratic presidential nomination.

George Norcross

The South Jersey Democratic leader was unable to transfer his power to a statewide primary victory.

Jerramiah Healy

The Mayor of Jersey City/Hudson County Democratic Chairman delivers a massive plurality for Frank Lautenberg, and his three Freeholder candidates win.

George Gilmore

The Ocean County GOP Chairman backed Jack Kelly for Congress, and his countywide incumbents failed to break 55%.

Joe Cryan

The Democratic State Chairman worked hard to ensure a Lautenberg victory.

Steve Adubato

The North Ward political leader didn't have much juice.

Tom Wilson

The Republican State Chairman picked a horse in the U.S. Senate primary -- Dick Zimmer -- and won.

MIDDLESEX COUNTY DEMOCRATIC SENATORS

The endorsements of Bob Smith, Barbara Buono and Joe Vitale didn't help Rob Andrews break into Middlesex.

BOB MENENDEZ

The junior Senator from New Jersey helped secure his spot as the next DSCC Chairman by helping Frank Lautenberg win a landslide primary victory.

Sandra Cunningham

Talk about no juice! For Rob Andrews, Anthony Chiappone's endorsement meant more than hers.

Frank Pallone

The Democratic Congressman was one of Frank Lautenberg's attack dogs against Rob Andrews, and he spent money in his own district to turn out voters.

Her daughter won just 20% in the GOP congressional primary.

Bill Layton

The Burlington County GOP Chairman scores a huge victory for his candidate for Congress, Chris Myers, and his county candidates.

Steve Lonegan

His endorsement of Joe Pennacchio for Senate probably helped, but now he's lost the Ron Paul wing of the NJ GOP.

Phil Thigpen

Under enormous pressure, the Essex County Democratic Chairman held on.

John Sette

The Morris County GOP Chairman couldn't turn out huge numbers of Republican primary voters in Joe Pennacchio's home county.

Rick DiMichelle

The Camden County GOP Chairman backs Dick Zimmer for Senate and Chris Myers for Congress.

Bob Torricelli

Frank Lautenberg won, big.

JOE SPICUZZO

The Middlesex County Democratic Chairman/Sheriff sticks with Frank Lautenberg and delivers.

Paul Sarlo

The Bergen County State Senator, Joe Ferriero's Ambassador to Rob Andrews' campaign, couldn't even deliver Wood-Ridge, where he is Mayor.

John Sette and Dan Galic

screwed the pooch for Jersey Joe. Their volunteer organization was a shambles. Not to mention Chris Porden who was splitting time between two drives.

Healy w/ Barack from the start.

Please don't forget to mention that Healy was a very early and prominent supporter of Barack Obama's campaign.

no matter how many times you write it

it still isn't true.  Lonegan did not endorse Pennacchio.

Despite your hope to try and bring down Lonegan, you know he is still the best chance for Republicans next year.  If he runs - despite your attempts to try and fracture his support - he will get the support of those who supported Sabrin because Lonegan is the strongest advocate for smaller government, lower taxes, and greater individual liberty, and he has the track record to back up his statements.

Keep trying to make a mountain out of an anthill .... but it just ain't so.

Missed the two big ones. Biggest loser Rob Andrews "Now having been defeated state-wide and having been crushed state-wide" Rob Andrews political future is jeopardy" and the big winner Frank Lautenberg "At 84 he proved to be just as vigerous as ever"
