The news today that Ashley Evans, 7, and her sister Sophia, 3, have been reunited with their father after being stuck in the Republic of Georgia after the Russian Army invasion two weeks ago essentially ends the campaign of Josh Zeitz, a college professor on an already long shot bid to oust fourteen-term Congressman Christopher Smith. Smith traveled to Georgia last week to meet with officials and has remained there to help facilitate the safety of the two girls, who live in Howell Township in the fourth district. Operatives from both parties say that Smith will have no trouble getting re-elected now, although some say he had no problems before the successful rescue mission.
Smith has been criticized in the past for infrequent trips home to the district, his Virginia residency, and his international travel as a senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. But successes like this one make it exponentially more difficult to make the case to voters that Smith is less effective because he’s not in New Jersey.

Yay, I can't wait for the Zitz campaign to start wagging the dog and talking about how this little international pleasure trip took time away from the possible number of nights Smith spent in his Hamilton apartment during the district work period. Isn't it about time to go harassing the neighbors again?
way to go
Rep. Smith earns his paycheck. Here's to 14 more terms, or, quick! Change the ballot against Senator Lautenberg!
He was safe to begin with...
Please, just his name wins him re-election every time.
This just adds icing to the cake. Now what's better in the books: Bucking fellow Republicans and getting kicked out of a Chairmanship because he FOUGHT for MORE Veterans benefits ORRRR basically rescuing two young girls and reuniting them with their father in a war torn country.
Don't forget about all his hard work leading the charge on autism research as well.
Game. Set. Match.
A true defender of children
The entire state of New Jersey should be extremely proud of Congressman Chris Smith. These two little girls are safe and alive today because of his persistence and passion. He exemplifies what it means to be truly pro-life!
The most remarkable
part of this story was that he was able to get the French on board to help. I guess that those foreign travels got him some networks.
He was safe before
And his opponent will not try and spin this against him. I don't know all of the details, but it looks like Smith did well here.

Joshy I am sure he is too busy trying to pull his pants up!
Smith cannot be touched.
