Much has been made of State Sen. Diane Allen’s (R-Burlington) lack of involvement in the tight 3rd Congressional race, where Republican Medford Mayor Chris Myers is running against State Sen. John Adler (D-Cherry Hill).
But while Allen is much more committed to State Sen. Leonard Lance’s (R-Flemington) Congressional race, which is far outside of her district, she said today that she’s still voting for Myers, and even personally donated $250 to him within the last week or two.
“I have sat down with [Myers] and any time he asked me any questions on strategy and along those lines I gave him my best bit of information,” she said.
Allen, a moderate Republican, represents a legislative district where Democrats outnumber her party two-to-one. Some political observers saw her lack of visible support for Myers as a manifestation of her feud with GOP boss Glenn Paulsen, who was integral in recruiting Myers.
But Allen said she’s spent the bulk of her time advocating for Republicans in her legislative district’s municipalities like Edgewater Park, Merchantville and Beverly. And, differences with Paulsen and his allies who still control the party notwithstanding, Allen said she’s still voting straight Republican in the Burlington County freeholder race.
“My differences with Glenn Paulsen have little to do with most candidates. It has to do with the way an organization is run,” she said.

Told YOu
Lets see, Indie OC and Andy Grey swore Allen was not going to back Myers or vote for him.
Allen has always been committed to the GOP and has been out for Myers.
Who has been out for Adler? Oh Norcross
Yep
Looks like she's working really hard for the Burlco Repubs.
SURPRIZE, SURPRIZE !!!
What else is she going to say ? Did you really expect her to say anything different ? And contributing a whole $250.....now there's a whopping show of support ! The honeymoon between her and the Burlington County GOP has long been over. But, she still has to say the politically correct thing. As disingenuous as this announcement is, it certainly comes as no surprize.
Ha.
So she'll vote for Chris? Chris Smith? That's nice. It'll really help Myers 2 days before the election.
That $250 can probably do a 2-second ad buy on TV Land at 1am. Long enough for Myers to look menacingly into the camera and scare the poor people just trying to watch M*A*S*H.
Jealous Much?
Indy Oc, you have no clue about where she has been speaking, stumping, etc. Of course you do not!
She has been advocating for the GOP and well, I would be a bit bitter too if my candidate, Adler was treading water after all the millions of dollars on ads, flyers, etc and yet he cannot pull away from Myers and has Ocean County spanking his butt by over 17%
Adler is done
This is the final nail in Adler's coffin. Johnny Bye Bye. The DCCC abandons you, you puff out your chest and make everyone think Diane is going to endorse you and NOTHING. Enjoy Trenton. You'll be there a little while longer.
Whoopie Freakin Do
I am with the Adler guys on this one - Allen selfishly stood on the sideline of this race because of her issues with Paulsen.
Fine - hate Paulsen. But up until after Chris Myers decided to run for Congress, he couldn't have picked Paulsen out of a crowd.
Allen, in my opinion, would have rather seen the seat go to Adler so she could jump up and down and say "I told you so."
Chris is the real deal and will win this race regardless of Allen.
GET REAL FOLKS! DIANE ALLEN IS A REPUBLICAN- DUHH!
Yoy shills for the Republican Party really crack me up. Diane Allen is a GOP elected official who has asperations of running for higher office. How many of you recall her last unsuccessful run, by the way? In any event. she would be slashing her political throat were she to either endorse Democrat John Adler or remain neutral in the third congressional race. So who do you think she will ultimately support? It is however, interesting that she waited until Monday November 3 to release her public endorsement for Chris Myers.
Diane Allen is hardly a king or queen maker. Senator Allen is a washed up former news anchor woman who could never return to the television studios at her present girth. She looks like a beached political whale that swallowed up her ward leader. Granted the changes Senator Allen advocates for her party are long overdue and only begin to scratch the surface. However, if Ms Allen were the powerhouse, she is cracked up to be, she would have been far more successful in reforming the local Republican Party and its corrupt selection process which needs major changes. Diane is at best an extra wide paperclip rather than a nail in anybody's coffin. So, who gives a rat's rump which candidate Diane Allen supports in the November election. It does not mean jack squat.
If John Adler loses this race, it will primarily be because this district constitutes one of the most obscene examples of gerrymandering in the state's history. It is a demographic nightmare. which will not end unless the entire state map is drawn in a reasonable manner. While both political parties will scream bloody murder, it is high time the garden's political map is redrawn fairly. The fact that parts of Canden and Ocean counties are part of the same congressional district is sheer insanity at best and the mothers milk of political bossism at worst. It has kept this District Republican since 1884.
State Senator Adler is clearly the better candidate. His excellence goes beyond poitical party. It even goes beyond the positive political agenda he brings to the table. His ace in the hole is the aggressive office staff that he picked. These tireless crusaders never hesitate to pick up the lance and fight on behalf of the constituents. The only negative aspect of sending John Adler to congress, is that his shoes in Tremton will be hard to fill, but we will manage to get by.
Whoa
Someone's angry.
the final nail: get serious
well that final nail you spoke of the oc must have been a plastic one for 3 year olds. Adler just beat myers despite the "amazing" endorsement from Diane Allen. abetternjnow was right on this one. You know when someone from your party only endorses you 2 days before the election, that they are not behind you 100%. a lesson i learned from this election is that endorsements 2 days before the election are not helpful unless they are from a huge name or someone from the other party.
