Superdelegate says she was dumped from DNC post because she switched from Clinton to Obama

Superdelegate Roz Samuels, who switched from Clinton to Obama, lost re-election as a Democratic National Committeewoman tonightSuperdelegate Roz Samuels, who switched from Clinton to Obama, lost re-election as a Democratic National Committeewoman tonight
Democratic National Committeewoman Christine “Roz” Samuels said today that she was dumped from the New Jersey delegation last night because she flipped her support from Hillary Clinton to Barack Obama back in February.

Samuels said she was called yesterday morning at 8:00 a.m. by Democratic State Chairman Joseph Cryan, who told her that Essex County Democratic Chairman Phil Thigpen wanted her off the ticket.

“One day notice,” she said. “They called me yesterday morning and told me I was off the ticket. And I said ‘You mean for what I did way in February? This is retaliation for February?’”

Samuels said that she was told she was thrown off the ticket because of her switch. Samuels officially switched to Obama on February 14th – less than one week before two South Jersey super delegates switched – but long before most north Jersey party leaders left the Clinton camp.

Samuels’s replacement will be former Assemblywoman Stephanie Bush-Baskette, who’s also from Essex County.

“I really have to find out what is the time limitation for pulling someone off a ticket. You can’t tell someone that morning the morning of the meeting. Usually you give a two week notice to someone if you’re going to fire them from the job,” she said, adding that she has run two recent successful Obama events in Montclair. “It’s just a vindictive thing because I had a couple good meetings, and I think (Thigpen) feels that way because he didn’t do it first.”

Thigpen could not immediately be reached for comment.

State Democratic Chairman Joe Cryan denied Samuels’s side of the story, but declined to elaborate.

“Mrs. Samuels is mistaken. I’ll leave it at that.”

Some Democratic sources say the reason is more complicated than Samuels’s switch to Obama, pointing to an adversarial relationship between her and Thigpen.

Samuels has served on the DNC since 2000. She will still get to go to the convention in her capacity as a super delegate, since her term doesn’t end until Sunday, July 31st – the night Obama will give his nomination acceptance speech at the Pepsi Center in Denver.

June Fisher, who last night was elected to her 7th term on the committee, said she didn’t know why Samuels was thrown off the ticket, but did not want to criticize the decision.

“I told that to Roz yesterday morning when she called me that it’s been my pleasure to serve with her. I didn’t make the choice or the decision,” she said. “I can’t go against the slate that includes me.”

Fisher said that Samuels was “a little upset, but feisty,” when she called her yesterday.

“Roz has a feisty streak to her that I admire. She had the courage to come last night and put in her name.  She went down satisfied that she died fighting,” she said.

Time limit?

This isn't a statewide general ballot, but an intra-party selection of reps to the national party. State law doesn't govern it, nor does federal law.

Maybe there are internal rules for the party, but when was the last time that stopped the leaders of either party from picking their own?

It's a Fact: The Bush Administration Lied About Iraq...

(But first, my sympathies to Ms Samuels...and my thanks to her for being so "feisty"!!!)

....here's one of many many many sites that articulate and document the lies.

http://projects.publicintegrity.org/WarCard/?gclid=CIX_wra7kZUCFQ-SHgodq...

And here's a small part of what's on that one site...

>>>>>>>>>>In short, the Bush administration led the nation to war on the basis of erroneous information that it methodically propagated and that culminated in military action against Iraq on March 19, 2003. Not surprisingly, the officials with the most opportunities to make speeches, grant media interviews, and otherwise frame the public debate also made the most false statements, according to this first-ever analysis of the entire body of prewar rhetoric.

President Bush, for example, made 232 false statements about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and another 28 false statements about Iraq's links to Al Qaeda. Secretary of State Powell had the second-highest total in the two-year period, with 244 false statements about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and 10 about Iraq's links to Al Qaeda. Rumsfeld and Fleischer each made 109 false statements, followed by Wolfowitz (with 85), Rice (with 56), Cheney (with 48), and McClellan (with 14).

The massive database at the heart of this project juxtaposes what President Bush and these seven top officials were saying for public consumption against what was known, or should have been known, on a day-to-day basis. This fully searchable database includes the public statements, drawn from both primary sources (such as official transcripts) and secondary sources (chiefly major news organizations) over the two years beginning on September 11, 2001. It also interlaces relevant information from more than 25 government reports, books, articles, speeches, and interviews.

Consider, for example, these false public statements made in the run-up to war:

    * On August 26, 2002, in an address to the national convention of the Veteran of Foreign Wars, Cheney flatly declared: "Simply stated, there is no doubt that Saddam Hussein now has weapons of mass destruction. There is no doubt he is amassing them to use against our friends, against our allies, and against us." In fact, former CIA Director George Tenet later recalled, Cheney's assertions went well beyond his agency's assessments at the time. Another CIA official, referring to the same speech, told journalist Ron Suskind, "Our reaction was, 'Where is he getting this stuff from?' "
    * In the closing days of September 2002, with a congressional vote fast approaching on authorizing the use of military force in Iraq, Bush told the nation in his weekly radio address: "The Iraqi regime possesses biological and chemical weapons, is rebuilding the facilities to make more and, according to the British government, could launch a biological or chemical attack in as little as 45 minutes after the order is given. . . . This regime is seeking a nuclear bomb, and with fissile material could build one within a year." A few days later, similar findings were also included in a much-hurried National Intelligence Estimate on Iraq's weapons of mass destruction — an analysis that hadn't been done in years, as the intelligence community had deemed it unnecessary and the White House hadn't requested it.
    * In July 2002, Rumsfeld had a one-word answer for reporters who asked whether Iraq had relationships with Al Qaeda terrorists: "Sure." In fact, an assessment issued that same month by the Defense Intelligence Agency (and confirmed weeks later by CIA Director Tenet) found an absence of "compelling evidence demonstrating direct cooperation between the government of Iraq and Al Qaeda." What's more, an earlier DIA assessment said that "the nature of the regime's relationship with  Al Qaeda is unclear."
    * On May 29, 2003, in an interview with Polish TV, President Bush declared: "We found the weapons of mass destruction. We found biological laboratories." But as journalist Bob Woodward reported in State of Denial, days earlier a team of civilian experts dispatched to examine the two mobile labs found in Iraq had concluded in a field report that the labs were not for biological weapons. The team's final report, completed the following month, concluded that the labs had probably been used to manufacture hydrogen for weather balloons.
    * On January 28, 2003, in his annual State of the Union address, Bush asserted: "The British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa. Our intelligence sources tell us that he has attempted to purchase high-strength aluminum tubes suitable for nuclear weapons production." Two weeks earlier, an analyst with the State Department's Bureau of Intelligence and Research sent an email to colleagues in the intelligence community laying out why he believed the uranium-purchase agreement "probably is a hoax."
    * On February 5, 2003, in an address to the United Nations Security Council, Powell said: "What we're giving you are facts and conclusions based on solid intelligence. I will cite some examples, and these are from human sources." As it turned out, however, two of the main human sources to which Powell referred had provided false information. One was an Iraqi con artist, code-named "Curveball," whom American intelligence officials were dubious about and in fact had never even spoken to. The other was an Al Qaeda detainee, Ibn al-Sheikh al-Libi, who had reportedly been sent to Eqypt by the CIA and tortured and who later recanted the information he had provided. Libi told the CIA in January 2004 that he had "decided he would fabricate any information interrogators wanted in order to gain better treatment and avoid being handed over to [a foreign government]."

The false statements dramatically increased in August 2002, with congressional consideration of a war resolution, then escalated through the mid-term elections and spiked even higher from January 2003 to the eve of the invasion.<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

What "facts are you referring to??? You don't say. LOL

>>>>>As usual Nick - Out of Touch & Out of Brains -<<<<<<

Pure unadulterated personal invective. No facts. No arguments. No logic. If it get's you off MadMax that's great. But you aren't convincing anyone of anything there.

>>>>>>We are talking about the DUMB A_ _ DEMOCRATS and that Drug Dealing, Terrorist Sounding Name and America Hater Osama Bama,<<<<<<<<

Again, more empty invective. If you really believe what you're saying is true; then why isn't John McCain saying it. Is he part of the conspiracy too?

>>>>>whatever the hell his name is, who should leave this great country because he sure in hell will never be my President………….<<<<<<<

That means when Obama wins and is PRESIDENT that you'll give up your citizenship and go back to.......where?

>>>>I am a Vietnam Vet and I approved this comment!!!!!!!!!<<<<<<<

Based on what you just wrote, I have no reason to believe you. If you're a vet then come out and proudly use your real name. If you really believe the nonsense you've just spouted; come out and use your real name.

I don't believe you'll do that. You know you're just making up shit and venting your spleen and you would be ashamed of yourself if your friends, neighbors and co workers could ever read the crap you put out here.

With apoplectic frothing "supporters" like you John McCain doesn't need any enemies. Thanks!!!

LOL

Food for thought

Why is it that only the black people are the sacraficial lambs who have to step down or get kicked out of the DNC politics. Most whites in power supported Clinton, and NJ lost, they later flip flopped, but they are still going to the DNC. Blacks in NJ are used by white politics.

DUMPED BY WHITE POLITICANS
Wayne Bryant
Zulima Farber
Dana Rone
Regina Thomas
Warren Wallace
Mims Hackett
Sharpe James

Are the local democratic parties in certain pockets of NJ going to really support a black man for president? Be careful Obama, this state uses black people and they will use you. When you get elected, check out the racial disparities, don't get confused with the window treatment they put in front of you.

so now it's whitey's fault???? come on man, this entire string of comments is utterly ridiculous - from the racist vet who thinks obama is a terrorist to the person above who thinks that anything but sheer greed and stupidity brought down electeds like sharpe, wayne and mims....get a grip.
