Sen. Leonard Lance from Hunterdon County, the former state Senate Minority Leader, is expected to officially enter the 7th District Congressional race this week.
The GOP field in the 7th district so far includes Union County candidates Scotch Plains Mayor Martin Marks and former Summit Councilwoman Kelly Hatfield; and Kate Whitman, daugter of former Gov. Christie Todd Whitman, from Somerset County.
It is expected that Assemblyman Pete Biondi will not seek his party’s nomination, which could open up a run by Warren Mayor Victor Sordillo, who has sworn off running if Biondi gets in the race.
Whoever wins Republican support will face likely Democratic Party nominee Assemblywoman Linda Stender.

Max - You left out Chris Venis!
Hey Max...any reason for omitting Chris Venis of Hillsborough from this story.
Lance is the wrong candidate
Leonard couldn't raise a dime or champion any change in Trenton but we're supposed to believe that this guy is ready to take on Stender and a Democrat controlled Washington? Forgive me that images of Spartacus don't come to mind.
Biondi would have made a good candidate but he's in line for Minority Leader... can't blame him for sticking around to be the big fish in the Assembly GOP.
Whitman Alert
All I can say is I hope Kate isn't like her mother...
Biondi In Line
"Biondi would have made a good candidate but he's in line for Minority Leader... can't blame him for sticking around to be the big fish in the Assembly GOP."
I'm surprised Bramnick or Biondi or one of the ushers didn't take over for DeCroce. Is the NJ Republican Party so pathetic that they think he is a good party leader? Give me a break.

Middlesex County Straw Poll
Saw all candidates for the seat speak. Lance did well but he is expected to. The guy to watch is Mayor Marks. He had a very strong conservative message that seemed to hit a home run with the crowd. The others were unimpressive including the former first daughter.
Slavery and TV taxes
Some political consultant is going to have a field day with Leonard's votes last week to "apologize" for slavery and put a $10 tax on every TV sold in the state.
