My mother wants you to vote for "sweet" Obama
By Carla KatzA couple of weeks ago, my mother, Angelina Katz, did her second debate on behalf of Barack Obama. A debate? My mother? If you knew her, you’d be both shocked and amused. Just over one year ago she suffered a stroke that took most of her sight, and her mobility. She had to quit the day care center job she loved and was alone much of the day unable to read or even watch TV. Politics was the furthest thing from her mind.
After living her entire life in New Jersey, my mom is now happy to live in western Pennsylvania, a few minutes from my brother and his family in an apartment in a wonderful assisted living St. Barnabus facility. Happily, this move has positively changed her life. She and my father were politically active in my youth (my dad was Mayor of Edgewater Park and my mom was on the Township Committee), but I thought that era was long past. My mom’s latest long hand letter (she writes to me since her hearing is bad and phone conversations become surrealistic yelling fests) had me both laughing and crying. And, it convinced me that hope and change are truly ageless. So, here it is, in my mother’s words.

My dearest Carla:
Just a few lines to see if you’re all right. Hope you’re getting through this month. I wish I could help but I am limited. Be strong and smart and give them hell. Remember, change is good. You be healthy, strong and have faith. I love you so my remarkable girl. I guess Montana and Cooper are back in school. Please hug them for me and whisper in their ears that Nannie loves them.
I love it here and I keep busy and do the best I can. I go to the coffee chats and have been talking “change” for the Democrats. PA is a swing state you know! They are strong Republicans here but I talk issues. I hope B.O. and Joe B. get in. I vote right here in the mall. I voted in the primary for B.O. A Story: After my first debate (your brother told you I did that didn’t he?), I did a second one! I had Anna buy candy and those mini Dove ice cream bars. After the debate, I gave them out and I said, please enjoy and think how sweet these taste and how sweet change will be after all the Bush bitter years, and vote for change on November 4th for Barack Obama. And, if some of you can’t remember (they’re pretty old here), think BO on Nov. 4. Ha Ha Ha. Well, they loved the sweets and so keep your fingers and toes crossed for this Nov. 4th.
This past Saturday night, I went down to dinner with five friends in our group. This sweet little 90-year-old named Becky, who was at my second coffee chat, sat next to me and she hasn’t been here long. We ordered (she only eats fish or chicken and drinks wine). Story goes, I asked the group what do you think about the bailout and they told me to shut up already. Out of the blue, Becky said, I remember, vote for BO because he is sweet as candy. Well, I laughed.! How sweet. Now I have to knock on her door to remind her to vote now that I know what her room number is. I have a list of room numbers to remind people to vote. Picture this, me with my walker that has a seat bringing Becky on it, wheeling her in to vote. She has a cane she can use to avert voting traffic! Can you picture this? We all look like the walker scene part of the film “The Producers”! Give my remarkable grandchildren all my love and a really big hug. I love you. Always be strong and handle life with a touch of humor.

Nice job, condemning others' comments as astounding, then referring to them as "shit sucking un-american evil bastards". Not to mention the assumption that anyone who criticizes this columnist is male, republican and did not vote for Obama.
The notoriety of this columnist isn't due to her qualifications as a political commentator. By passing herself off as such, after she has been deposed from the day job that might have given her opinion some relevance, she opens the door to discussion of the other reasons for her fame.

Your mother sounds like a lovely person who probably told you to be honest, avoid corruption and stay away from politics. She would probably like to hear those emails that were sent between you and the Governor, and why would something so innocuous as a few emails between lovers need to be locked in Superior Court.
Speaking of sweet, you can tell us was Jonny C sweet or salty? Would would we be able to find that in those precious emails?

The critique of Katz here has been ugly vicious personal and evil.
I say again, the people making that critique (and I bet that most of them are indeed "men") are worthy of being cursed in the strongest terms, as are those who "have a problem" with the election of a black man to the presidency.
I hear a lot of racism and sexism coming from Republicans lately. And if you doubt that, try listening to Hannity, Limbaugh, Savage, Levin and the rest of the people you have chosen to beat the drums on national hate radio.
So long as the Republican party is the party where skinheads and the Klan and people who would give us a "Cristian" Talibanistc theocracy are welcome under the "big tent" you will continue to lose elections.
You actually make crooks like Joe Ferierro look good in comparison; and that's some "accomplishment".

Carla's mom is a sweet woman and only her brother moved out of state. Their mother moved out there because it was the best for the family arrangements between the family. She was with Carlas younger sisters house but it wasn't working. Leave her mother out of all this. She really is a sweet woman.
As far as Carla and Corzines love affair, that should be fair game. Carla a put herself out there (maybe in more ways than one) and she needs to suffer the consciquences for her actions. I don't keep up on all these Carla matters but I can't say that I've heard Carla ever humble herself and admit that she made a mistake dating(?) Corzine and breaking up her family. Maybe she feels that she made out pretty well and she is not sorry for her relationship. If that is the case, then she deserves the horrible comments made about her and it does not matter who makes them.

Looks like Christmas came early to the Katz Family, or at least to Katz's dead beat brother-in-law, who sat on his rear for two years waiting for Karla's Bo to give him a job.
So now the corrupt Corslime settled for a few hundred thousand to this gumba, Rocco, who btw has already recieved a handout of 15,000 dollars, prior to his lawsuit.
Who else in the Katz family would like a piece of the Corslime pie? I wish I had dirt on corzine so he'd give me shut up money.
Oh and as for Mommy Katz well Rocco reports that Corzine gave her 11,000 dollar checks while dating her daughter. Along with about 10,000 in back taxes that Katz's mother owed for property in Edgewater Park.
Don't get mad at me.. blame the Star Ledger. :)
